Located between Manitoba and Quebec, Ontario is Canada’s second-largest province, only smaller than Quebec. It’s bordered to the north by the Hudson Bay and to the south by the U.S. states of New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Ohio. Toronto is the province’s capital. Here you’ll also find Ottawa, the capital of Canada.
Ontario is home to four of the five Great Lakes — Ontario, Erie, Huron, and Superior. The fifth, Lake Michigan, is found in the United States. Covering 82,000 sq km (31,700 sq mi), Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world.
Ontario Weather
Ontario enjoys all four seasons. The warmest month is July and the coldest is January. The average summer temperature ranges between 15°C (59°F) and 25° (77°F). As summer gains momentum, temperatures rise and can often jump above 30°C (86°F). Having said this, sunglasses and sunscreen will be your best friends.
Late spring and early fall offer the most moderate temperatures and plenty of sunshine.
During wintertime, Ontario enjoys heavy snowfall, making it a fantastic winter playground. The average winter temperature ranges between -5°C (23°F) and -25°C (-13°F). Come prepared with lots of layers of warm clothing!

Many international travelers arrive at Toronto Pearson International Airport, the biggest airport in Canada. It welcomes flights from the major cities of the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia. The airport is located about 27 km (17 mi) from downtown Toronto.
