Tour Itinerary Overview

Once you arrive at your meeting point, you’ll start your journey in a special transfer bus or, if it’s a snowy winter, directly in Sleipnir Monster Truck. Your first destination is Geldingafell Base Camp, where you’ll get ready for your upcoming adventure on the glacier. En route, all you’ll need to do is appreciate the moment, look at the eye-catching scenery surrounding you, and enjoy the ride. That’ll be especially easy with the Icelandic music playing in the background and hearing all those amusing stories the guide will tell you.

When you’ve reached the second-largest glacier in Iceland, you’ll have a chance to learn a lot about it and perhaps even get to taste some glacier water. If there will be a chance and good weather conditions you’ll be able to slide down the glacier and play some glacier golf.

After such a memorable day exploring one of greatest Iceland’s glaciers, it’s time to head back. The reliable monster truck will return you to Gullfoss Upper Parking, your initial meeting spot.

Shoe Size: Please note that if your shoe size is smaller than 35 EU, our guides will not be able to fit crampons into your shoes for glacier activities.

It is good to bring your own backpack on our full-day or half-day tours. It’s the best carry-on for a small lunch, extra clothes, and other necessary items.

The scenery on the tour is full of stunning, breathtaking views that you’ll almost definitely want to capture forever, so you should definitely bring your camera along. Your tour guide will also be happy to take your photo.

Rain is common in Iceland but we never let the rain be in our way to go forward with our tours.
That’s why we highly recommend appropriate clothing so you can stay warm and dry.
Nature is out of our control and therefore we need to adapt to the weather. Your safety is our priority so if your safety is compromised by going on the tour then we will cancel it and you will get full reimbursement.

We have four different categories that help participants to get a better understanding of what to expect from the tour. The categories are Easy, Moderate, Challenging and Demanding. All of our tours are rated to make it easier for you to find a tour that suits you.

Alcohol is prohibited on all of our tours before and during activities. If we find the participant to be intoxicated, we will prohibit them from taking part in the activity.

After the activities of the day are finished then you are more than welcome to have a drink and relax.

Iceland is known to have a lot of snow and when the snow stays long enough in one place than it turns to ice. Over long periods of time, the ice layers up becoming huge blocks called glaciers. It forms to create ginormous glaciers that sweep across huge masses of land. Iceland is home of the largest glacier in Europe that is called Vatnajökull. Crampons are metal spikes that fasten to the soles of your hiking boots to provide a reliable grip on icy surfaces and help prevent slipping. For our glacier tours involving walking on ice, specialized glacier crampons are provided. These are stronger and more durable than standard ice spikes, designed specifically for challenging glacier conditions. Your guide will assist you in putting them on before you step onto the glacier, and they will be collected at the end of the tour.
