Eclipse 2026 Tour in Iceland

The wait is over—Icelanders and visitors alike will finally experience the magic of a total solar eclipse on 12 August 2026. This rare event happens when the Sun and Moon line up just right, casting a shadow on Earth. It starts with a partial eclipse as the Moon begins to block the Sun, creating an eerie twilight. Then comes the big moment: totality. The Moon fully covers the Sun, revealing its corona. It’s a magical moment that will only last a couple of minutes at best.

The adventure begins with a pick-up from a dedicated location in Reykjavik, followed by a 3-hour drive to Snæfellsnes. We’ll skip unnecessary stops to avoid traffic, keeping our focus on reaching the best viewing spot.

Our expert guides will consider the weather and the eclipse path to find the ideal viewing spot. As we drive through the peninsula, the scenery will shift from lava fields to volcanoes and glaciers rising in the distance - perfect for photos and building anticipation. Once we arrive, you’ll have time to set up your cameras, relax, and connect with fellow travelers.

As the Moon blocks the Sun, the day will briefly turn to night—an experience that’s surreal and unforgettable. Snap your photos, share some excitement, and take in the incredible view surrounded by Iceland’s raw beauty. After the eclipse, we’ll toast to the moment with drinks and stories before heading back to Reykjavik, arriving in the evening.

• Food: Meals aren’t included on this tour, and we won’t make stops for food to be on time. Therefore, bring along snacks or a packed lunch.
   
• Travel Time & Viewing Location: To make sure we don’t miss this rare event because of traffic, the guide will scout the Snæfellsnes Peninsula to find the best spot for an uninterrupted view of the eclipse. The exact location and travel time will depend on weather and cloud conditions.
   
• Weather & Visibility: The solar eclipse is all about the weather, so clear skies aren’t guaranteed. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll switch gears and explore the beautiful sights of Snæfellsnes Peninsula instead, making the most of the day regardless.
   
• Photography Tips: Feel free to bring your camera, binoculars, and any gear you need, but remember to use solar filters to protect your eyes and equipment.
