Experience the stunning South Coast of Iceland. Black sand beaches, waterfalls, glaciers, Diamond beach, and more. See the floating icebergs on the glacier lagoon! After pickup, we drive out of Reykjavik, past the Hellisheidi Geothermal Power plant. You will see the water vapors rising in the air. We drive along the South Coast all the way to Hvolsvollur town.

As we drive along Iceland's epic South Coast, we will visit Iceland's most beautiful natural attractions. And if there won't be enough of the South Coast gems, there is an opportunity to join the mesmerizing boat ride at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon as an extra activity for an additional cost.

Tour Itinerary Overview

It is possible to walk behind the waterfall and experience some hidden magic behind the 60-meter/197 ft cascade. Its water origins directly at the magnificent volcano glacier, Eyjafjallajokull. You might even see a double rainbow if you are lucky! Don't forget the raincoat as you will get wet from the drizzle! (Please note that the path behind the cascade may be closed during winter as it gets too slippery and dangerous.)

Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon & Diamond Beach

This epic lagoon is the biggest star on the South Coast. The dream-like glacier lake - the deepest lake in the country - is situated at the southern end of the Vatnajökull ice cap. As the glacier retreats, icebergs of all sizes and shapes break off its tip floating across the lagoon, drifting slowly from the glacier's tip towards the ocean. This exciting environment is constantly changing as the massive glacier tongue retreats more and more.

Jokulsarlon has appeared in many movies. To name a few: Batman Begins and the James Bond movies: A View to a Kill and Die Another Day. We spend some time here enjoying the magnificent scenery.

A short walk away, you can find the Diamond Beach (or Crystal Beach), a nearby black sand beach where the enormous icebergs are washed ashore and break into millions of ice crystals, decorating the sand as glittering diamonds.

Vík Village

The small seaside village of Vík, also known as Vík í Mýrdal, is the southernmost village in Iceland. It has around 300 inhabitants, making it the largest settlement in the area.

One of the most famous sights in Vík is the tiny little church, named Víkurkirkja, sitting on the top of a hill over the village. The cliffs around Vík create absolutely breathtaking scenery!

Notable Information

We only visit Fjallsárlón when the skies are clear. If it’s too foggy or misty for a proper view, we’ll spend more time at Jökulsárlón and Diamond Beach.
This is a long day tour. It takes about 5 hours to drive to the glacier lagoon area. Therefore this tour duration is about 15-16 hours, including all the stops along the way.
Food and drinks are not included but can be purchased on the way, there is time allocated for lunch.

Boat ride: For the optional 30-minute boat tour at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon during May - October months, a ticket can be purchased on the bus for ISK 5900 per person.

Alcohol is prohibited on all of our tours before and during activities. If we find the participant to be intoxicated, we will prohibit them from taking part in the activity.

After the activities of the day are finished then you are more than welcome to have a drink and relax.

Yes, we do have a tour into Langjökull Ice Cave that has no minimum age and it is a fantastic option for the whole family. As a Whale Watching with our partner company Special Tours, enjoyable tour for a family traveling with young children, these guys have an enormous success rate in seeing whales (upwards of 98% in the summertime).

If you want to explore parts of Icelandic Highlands than we have our magnificent Landmannalaugar Safari tour that also offers you to bathe in natural hot springs.
