Diving is an experience like no other. However, practicing it safely and responsibly requires skill and knowledge. Whether you are just starting out or hoping to move up and acquire specific skills, here at Arctic Adventures Diving Center we can provide training and PADI certification at any level. Dive theory, safety and underwater communication, specialty courses and professional training are all taught by our expert instructors. Recreational Padi Certificates for Beginners

If you have always dreamed of exploring the underwater world but have not had the opportunity, you need to learn the first steps to make your dream come true. Here are the PADI certifications you need to know about, especially if you want to dive in Iceland:

- PADI Scuba Diver certification. This first PADI diving certification level is the easiest to obtain. However, you cannot dive independently at this level, which means a professional guide or instructor must accompany you at all times. Also, your diving depth is limited to 40 ft (12 m). Please note that we cannot offer diving tours for people who only hold the PADI Scuba Diver certification, as a higher level of specialty certification is required to dive in the cold, mysterious waters of Iceland.

- PADI Open Water Certification. This is the most common way to begin underwater adventures. We recommend that you get this certification first. PADI Open Water training is not much more difficult to complete than the PADI Scuba Diver certification, but it does mean that you are free to choose your dive buddy and do not have to be supervised by professionals during your dives. You can dive to a depth of 18 meters (59ft).

- Dry Suit PADI Specialty Diver Certification. With this certification, you will learn how to properly don and use a dry suit, which is necessary when diving in cold waters. Dry Suit PADI certification card expands your options at dive sites and is mandatory for almost all dives in Iceland. The PADI Open Water certification is a prerequisite for this specialty training, which you can obtain during our 2-day Silfra Diving and Dry Suit certification tour.

Recreational Padi Certification for Advanced Divers

Do you have years of diving experience and feel it's time to dive deeper? There are a number of PADI advanced specialty diver certifications that not only allow you to log more varied dives, but also explore other activities such as underwater photography.
Let us take a closer look at a few of them:

- Advanced Open Water Diver (AWOD) PADI Certification. Show off your advanced diving skills by earning this PADI certification, which requires a minimum of 20 logged dives. Upon completion of this certification course, you will be a diver who can safely reach depths up to 100 ft (30 m).

- Night Diver Certification. Open Water certification is enough to get this PADI specialty diving certification that focuses on proper use of lights, communication and navigation in the dark. This dive course opens up a whole range of opportunities as you witness the mysterious underwater world at night.

- Underwater Photographer Certification. If you enjoy photography as much as diving, this certification will be your most valuable accomplishment. In addition to all the safety rules of photography, you'll learn about choosing camera systems and composing images underwater. Similar training is offered for underwater videography.

- Master Scuba Diver Certification. If you have reached this point, you have reached the top. Master Scuba Diver is the highest level of PADI certification for recreational divers, making you a true expert in almost all areas of diving. Becoming a Master Scuba Diver is a long process that requires all previous recreational diving certifications, five PADI Specialty Diver certifications and a minimum of 50 logged dives.

Professional Padi Diving Certifications

If you are ready to take your passion for diving to the next level and share it with others by teaching them to dive, it's time to look into professional PADI courses and certifications. There are a total of seven PADI professional diving certifications.

These will be some of the more notable certifications of your professional diving career:

- Divemaster Certification. This certificate will document your entry into the world of professional diving. As a Divemaster, you will be a guide for avid recreational divers and help Dive Instructors during classes.

- Open Water Scuba Instructor Certificate. If passing on knowledge is your passion, this is when professional diving becomes truly rewarding. As a Dive Instructor / Specialty Instructor, you'll not only help people who already know what they are doing, but you'll also teach other diving enthusiasts and teach various PADI certification levels for recreational diving and specialty certifications.

- Master Scuba Instructor Certification. At this point, there is no question that you are one of the top dive instructors. To reach this level, you must give 150 PADI certifications, on at least three Tuesdays.
