Are you excited to meet your guide? Walk back 400 m along the road until you reach a smaller parking lot with all the snorkeling and diving vehicles, and find your guide. Please make sure you meet your guide 15 minutes before the start of the tour at the Silfra car park.

Tour Itinerary Overview

Are you ready to experience not one, but two of the best dive sites in the world? Our Tectonic Diving Day Tour allows you to do just that.

The famous Silfra, known for the possibility of touching two continents at the same time, treats you to 100m of underwater visibility. David's Crack, a favorite among locals, is home to incredible lava formations and friendly trout. Together they make for a diving experience you will cherish forever.

You will start at the famous Silfra Fissure, where you will see water tones you never knew existed. Afterward, you will dive in Davíðsgjá, also known as David’s Crack. The glacial meltwater filters through the lava formations and becomes so clear that you can see about 100m in all directions.
This dive tour is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to float between two continents. You will begin your tour by diving into the Silfra Fissure, famous for marking the end of the Eurasian and the beginning of the North American tectonic plates. In some places, the fissure becomes so narrow that you can touch both sides at the same time!
The water temperature at Silfra is constant year-round, measuring 2-4°C (36-40°F), while David's Crack is usually a bit warmer. Underwater visibility there depends more on the weather than diving at Silfra. Your dive at Davíðsgjá may also be accompanied by local trout!

Detailed Itinerary

8:30 am - pickup from Reykjavik (10 am if you choose to meet on location at Silfra)

10:30 am - first dive (Silfra Fissure)

11:30 am - short break. We’ll reset our diving equipment for the second dive and treat ourselves to cookies and hot chocolate

12:30 pm - second dive (David’s Crack). You can follow in your vehicle or join your guide in their car for the commute

14:30 (2:30 pm) - packing up dive gear and logging dives

15:00 (3 pm) - departure

16:00 (4 pm) - return to Reykjavik

Requirements

CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTS:

Open Water Diver certification (or higher).
Dry suit certification or at least 10 logged dry suit dives.
At least one logged dry suit dive in the last two years.
Proof of certification or logbook (your guide will check the documents at the beginning of the tour).

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

All divers must provide their height/weight at the time of booking so that we can bring you the appropriate equipment. For safety reasons, all divers must understand the instructions in English and be able to communicate with the dive guide in English. Please evaluate your physical health, if you have some medical issues please check health certificate and get physician approval if needed.

Notable Information

We use neoprene dry suits of the highest quality. However, no dry suit in the world can guarantee 100% waterproofness unless it is custom-made for you. There is a small chance that water will penetrate the suit. Please bring a spare set of clothes, just in case.

The national park charges a small parking fee of 500 ISK for those who meet on site.

This is a challenging dive where you must be able to carry heavy equipment up to 200m.

We're here to answer your questions

We highly recommend long underwear and some warm socks. Wool or fleece is the best material to wear. You’ll be wearing the clothing under the dry suit.

We provide you with high-quality neoprene dry suit so that your body stays dry. There is always a small risk that water can enter the dry suit, that is not dangerous but you can feel a little cold, therefore, we recommend you to bring an extra spare set of clothes and a towel, just in case. Note that your hands and face will get wet, which is completely normal.

You will be provided with high-quality neoprene dry suit from Waterproof International and O’Three. As well as neoprene hood and gloves to protect your head and hands from the cold. You’ll also be given fins, mask, and snorkel.

The water temperature is 2-4 degrees C (35-37 degrees F) all year round.

Yes, there are two toilet facilities at Silfra.

Occasionally fish venture into Silfra from Þingvallavatn lake, but they will quickly swim back as they don’t like the cold glacier water. However, there is a lot of colorful seaweed including a bright green variety known as ‘’troll hair’’, which makes the fissure unlike anything on the surface.

Silfra can be up to 60m deep. However, when you’re diving in Silfra than you will go about 7 to 12m deep, and the maximum diving depth that is permitted is 18m.
